With the 4th of July just around the corner, it seems like a great time to offer up my Declaration of Independence Freebie again. This freebie is a special project compiled from the Modern History Portfolio “classic” and the Modern History Portfolio Junior. Notebooking activities promote observation and analysis, and include notetaking, outlining, vocabulary, Latin root words, copywork, and creative lettering.
Project Overview:
The Declaration of Independence mini unit and downloadable file in pdf, will produce a single fold, three-sided booklet, for each of three levels; approximately K – 2nd grade, 3rd – 4th grade, and 5th – 8th grade. But, of course, mix and match as is appropriate for your child or children. After reading aloud about the Declaration of Independence from various sources, complete 3 of the components per booklet.
Get your Freebie, and explore this foundational document.
NOTE: Watch your inbox for the link to this file.
Following are some recommended books. The Cornerstones of Freedom Declaration of Independence book, plus The Declaration of Independence, by Sam Fink, will be most useful. If you do want to complete the additional BONUS materials on the Background to the Revolutionary War, consider tracking down George vs. George, and the “If You Lived… book. Both are very good.
Coming over from Homeschool Freebie of the Day and looking forward to checking out what all you have. Thank you for making this available to so many. Have a wonderful 4th.
Great! You are welcome. I always like to share when projects turn out well!
Thank you for this. I was wanting to do something with the Declaration of Independence with my kindergarten graduate this week. All the primary grade materials I’ve been finding have been focusing on picnics and fireworks and not the reasons for them. SHE chose a George Washington graphic biography from the library last week, so it opened up the avenue for some interesting discussion with our bright girl during bedtime reading.
You daughter has good taste! We are so blessed to have had, as out first president, such an honorable man.
Coming over from Homeschool Freebie of the Day. Thanks for the Freebie. Your site looks great.
